Cumberland Presbyterian churches have been generously donating to support Ukrainian humanitarian assistance. The Missions Ministry Team (MMT), the international mission agency of the CPC, has missionaries in Spain, Rev. Wilson Lopez and Rev. Diana Gutierrez (husband and wife). They have been actively working with MMT staff, and Ukrainian Christians and churches in Spain to determine needs and ways to help. They have already distributed several thousand US dollars in assistance. Because of a large donation from Hong Kong Cumberland Presbyterians, MMT is now able to distribute €6,600 (euros) per month for the rest of 2022. This is just over $7,100 US dollars per month. Our missionaries have consulted directly with Ukrainian pastors living and working in Spain and as a result we have determined that these are the ways CP donations will be used:

• Financial assistance for transportation of food and medicine from Spain to Ukraine. Several trucks go each month from donor warehouses in Spain to Ukraine. There are people who meet the trucks in Poland to move the food and medicine into Ukraine. They distribute food and medicine to those in need at great personal risk. The CPC will help pay for some of these trucks.
• Financial grants to help displaced Ukrainian families rent apartments in Spain. Our missionaries in Spain are working with Ukrainian churches who have identified families that need help with rent.
• Aid for displaced Ukrainian families with critical needs for food, medicine, or transportation needs. There are displaced families that arrived with almost nothing. Some have an urgent need for food, medicine and help with other practical needs. Our staff, on a case-by-case basis, will help with some of those needs.

The CPC will help Ukrainians by distributing CP donations under the above stated goals through the end of 2022 , when we predict donated funds will be exhausted. Our missionaries in Spain are coordinating the distribution of these funds. We are working with Ukrainian Christian churches in Spain to help us distribute these resources. We will post pictures when possible, but security and privacy concerns have to be considered.
