Stanley S. Gomer, Jr., 93, of Burleson, Texas, died March 13, 2023. Born January 25, 1930 in Fort Worth, Texas, and active in the church since his teenage years, Stanley met his wife, Wanda Springer, at Rosen Heights Presbyterian Church in Fort Worth, Texas. They shared a life together for more than 71 years. Stanley took many leadership roles in the church. He taught Sunday school classed and led Bible Study groups for many years, teaching the teenagers all the way up to “us old folks.” He served as elder at Trinity Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Red River Presbytery) in Fort Worth and was on the session many times. He and Wanda were charter members of Saint Matthews Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Red River Presbytery) in Burleson, Texas, now known as Pathway Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In the 1970s, Stanley served as lay preacher for the Mount Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Red River Presbytery) in Cumby, Texas, driving there once a month. He was a commissioner at General Assembly at least once but attended several times. Wanda Gomer died in 2022.
