Roy Gene Martin, 91, of Columbia, Tennessee, 91, died February 12, 2021. Martin was a life-long Cumberland Presbyterian born to Lee and Grace Martin, a Cumberland Presbyterian family, in Cord, Arkansas, April 20, 1929. He served as an elder at Mt. Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Columbia Presbytery) from 1961.

Roy excelled in basketball and baseball, He graduated from Bethel College (now Bethel University) in McKenzie, Tennessee, where he met Hazel Willoughby. They married June 2, 1950, and in 1951 moved to Columbia where Roy began a career with Monsanto. He played basketball for the well-known Monsanto team.

Roy served on the planning committees for building three Cumberland Presbyterian Churches, Hopewell at Cord, Arkansas; First Church at Columbia, Tennessee; and Mount Pleasant at Mount Pleasant, Tennessee.
