Robert Donnell Presbytery met March 18, 2023, at the Stevenson Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Stevenson, Alabama. Called to order by Moderator Rev. Matthew Ingram. The Robert Donnell Regional Women’s Ministry introduced the offering recipient, a truck for the Beth-El Farm Worker Ministry in Wimauma, Florida. Frances Dawson resigned as stated clerk. She was presented with a Legacy of Ministry Award for her faithful service as clerk for the past 27 years. Rev. Earl Goodwin, who had been serving as interim stated clerk was elected to a three-year term. Rev. Brian Tanck was elected to a three-year term on the Board of Finance. Rev. Micaiah Tanck, was elected to a three-year term on the Board of Missions. A report from the Commission to close the Big Cove Cumberland Presbyterian Church was given by chair, Rev. Ed Herring. All the property has been either sold or disposed of except for the cemetery. The money from the sale brought in an excess of $170,000 and is marked for New Church Development.
Presbytery received the invitation to participate with the Belle Mina United Methodist Church near Mooresville in a celebratory worship service to give glory to God for the ministry of the Rev. Robert Donnell, who pastored both Cumberland Presbyterian churches and the United Methodist Church in the area. Offering plates which have been in the old Mooresville Church will be presented to a representative from the Robert Donnell Presbytery at the service set for May 20, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at Belle Mina UMC. Tours will be given of the old church in Mooresville, which is now a historic landmark, as well as the Robert Donnell House in Athens, Alabama.
