The Reverend Shelby Owen Haire, 82, (Cumberland Presbytery) died February 4, 2020. He was often known as Sonny. He had been pastor of Needham Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Eastview, Hardin County, Kentucky, since September 1988.

Shelby was born June 6, 1937, in Breckinridge County, Kentucky, the son of Junie Haire and Lona Wright. Shelby and Betty Cundiff were united in marriage October 27, 1956. They are the parents of two daughters, Connie Haire and Teresa Haire.

Shelby graduated from Howe Valley High School. He completed the four year Home Study Course.

He became a Christian in July, 1958 and joined the Needham Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Eastview, Kentucky. He came under the care of Leitchfield Presbytery in 1968. He was licensed in 1971 and ordained by Leitchfield Presbytery in 1972. He has been a member of Leitchfield and Cumberland Presbyteries.

Shelby was a member of the presbyterial Board of Missions. He was a mason and a member of Scottish Rite Shrine. He was a Democrat.
