The Reverend Grant L. Minton, 71, of Auburn, Kentucky, died November 2, 2022, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. He had served Cumberland Presbytery as pastor of Auburn Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 27 years. He served on the Board of Missions and the Committee on the Ministry of Cumberland Presbytery and was a chaplain for Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green.
Grant was born December 19, 1950, in Bowling Green, Kentucky to Percy Minton and Juanita Luttrell Minton. He became a Christian and joined the Ridgewood Baptist Churuch in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1962. He graduated from Louisville’s Pleasure Ridge Park High School and then attended Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. In 1972, while a student at Western, Grant was ordained in the Southern Baptist Church. He graduated from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville in 1978.
Grant came under the care of Cumberland Presbytery in 1990. After completing courses in Cumberland Presbyterian history, polity and theology, his ordination in the Southern Baptist Church was accepted by Cumberland Presbytery. He served Green Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Logan County, Kentucky, Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Hart County; Bald Knob Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Logan County; and, finally, Auburn Cumberland Presbyterian Church, also in Logan County.
