On Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 2:08 PM, the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America General Assembly Office announced the death of the Reverend Dr. Nancy J. Fuqua earlier in the day as a result of various health complications. Rev. Dr. Fuqua was Stated Clerk of Florence Presbytery and the Denominational Historian for the CPCA. She was the author of Built by the Hands, the official history of the denomination.

A visitation for Rev. Dr. Fuqua will be on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Jackson memory Funeral Home, 15737 Main Street, Town Creek, Alabama, 35672. Her funeral will be held at Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America in Leighton, Alabama, on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 12:00 noon.
