The Reverend Daryl William Alhart, 79, (Murfreesboro Presbytery) of Decherd, Tennessee, died May 17, 2020. He was a retired Cumberland Presbyterian minister. Daryl was born on Jan. 31, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri, to William Earl Alhart and Virginia Stratham Alhart. He graduated from Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio, in 1964. Daryl married Reba Kay Alhart.
Daryl completed his ministerial education with an emphasis on counseling through Waterloo Lutheran Seminary in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, in 1968. He was ordained by the Upper New York Synod of the Lutheran Church in America on June 12, 1968. He served Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Rochester, New York, for a year as assistant pastor, Trinity Lutheran Church in East Amhurst, New York, for six years as pastor, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rochester for fourteen years as pastor before turning his attention entirely to Christian counseling. He held a number of professional counseling positions between 1989 and 2007. He served the independent Trinity Lutheran Church as supply pastor from 2005 to 2007.
After completing courses in Cumberland Presbyterian history, polity, and theology through the Program of Alternate Studies in July 2005, Daryl’s ordination was recognized by Murfreesboro Presbytery. He served the Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Cumberland Presbytery) and the Mount Hermon Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Murfreesboro Presbytery) near Cookeville, Tennessee. His last pastorate before being honorably retired was the McMinnville, Tennessee, Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Murfreesboro Presbytery).
Daryl will be buried at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ogden, New York.
