The Reverend Chin Ann Ang, 71, known as John, of Springfield, Missouri, died January 29, 2023. An honorably retired member of Missouri Presbytery, John was born December 25, 1951, in Republic of Singapore in Southeast Asia to Ang Gim Seng and Tan Geok Hong. John grew up in the Republic of Singapore where he attended Singapore Secondary School. He worked in a chicken processing plant and as a school bus driver.

John joined the ministry following high school with his brother Alfred. He attended and graduated from the Bible College of Malaysia, a seminary affiliated with the Assemblies of God of Malaysia. It is located in the city of Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. John then earned a Master of Ministry degree from Singapore Bible College. In 1975, John was ordained in Singapore by the Assemblies of God of Malaysia. He met Nyet Leong Wong and they married December 10, 1977. They were married for 38 years until her death in 2016. John married Julie Hanline May 20, 2017.

John served as associate pastor of the Lord’s Grace Assembly of God Church in Singapore and then of an Assembly of God church in Kansas City, Missouri. He served as interim pastor of Springfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church, as pastor of Springfield Chinese Assembly of God Church, as pastor of Asian Community Fellowship in Springfield for Missouri Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and as interim pastor of New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Salem, Missouri. John also served campus ministries for the Assemblies of God at Ohio State University and Missouri State University and for the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Missouri State University.

John, a certified Christian Counselor, ministered to various churches and outreach communities including Teen Challenge in Singapore, Red Cross, Missouri and Kansas Correctional Facilities, and the Springfield Police Department. He served God as a teacher, an elder, and a dementia care specialist. He was a member of the Evangelical Ministerial Fellowship.
