The Missions Ministry Team has reported the death from COVID-19 of the Reverend Aida Melendez Diego December 14, 2021. She was leading a worshiping community in Miami, Florida, and serving as a member of the Grace Presbytery committee on pastoral care/concerns. She worked as a chaplain for Compassionate Care Hospice in Hialeah, Florida. Aida graduated from Candler College in Havana, Cuba, in 1957. She studied divinity at the South Florida Center for Theological Studies at St. Thomas University in Miami Gardens, Florida, receiving a masters degree in 1996. She has been a minister in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church since May 17, 1999.
