The Cumberland Presbyterian is a medium for the communication of the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ. Signed editorials and articles reflect the opinions of the writer and not necessarily those of the administrative agency, the Ministry Council, or the General Assembly. We welcome feedback from our readers through letters to the editor or as articles submitted in accordance with the submissions policy.
We get letters, e-mails, and text messages with frequency. Unless the author asks us not to print them, we generally run all communications in the next issue of the magazine (but not more than one major letter per quarter). Our “letters” range from those of brief complaint, “my copy of the CP only had one staple, I want my money back,” those of praise for a particular article, those of disagreement with a topic or author, and, most frequently, those revealing distribution woes, “my February issue just showed up and it’s October!” The primary purpose of letters to the editor is to give a voice to our readers with which we can agree or not, as the case may be. We invite any of our readers to civilly share their opinion and remember, the writer speaks not for the CP magazine, not for their church, nor for the denomination, but for themselves.
Submissions are welcomed, however, we reserve the right to accept or reject any material submitted for any reason. Anonymous submissions will not be accepted. All material submitted becomes the intellectual property of Communications Ministry Team to use as they see fit. Contributors will generally not be compensated and never unless arrangements for compensation have been made in advance. All submissions will be edited.
As of this posting (October 11, 2022), the Cumberland Presbyterian magazine has never turned down a letter to the editor for any reason other than repetition.
