Although the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lakeland, Florida, became a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA) during the partial union of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Church in 1906, the congregation thrived for decades before dwindling and being closed in 2013.
Lakeland Cumberland Presbyterian Church was founded in 1888. The original wooded frame building was sold in 1920 and a red brick building erected on its current plot at 730 S. Florida Ave. in Lakeland. Renamed Westminster Presbyterian Church, the congregation eventually withered and the church closed in 2013. Grace City Church purchased the building but held their last service on January 3, 2022. The building has now reportedly been purchased by The King’s Church for $2 million.
