La Roca de Salvacion (Rock of Salvation) CPC

La Roca de Salvacion Cumberland Presbyterian Church meets in the Rocky Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Grace Presbytery) facility in Birmingham, Alabama. The Reverend William Alas is pastor. On Friday December 30, 2022, while the Alas family was out shopping, their house in Calera, Alabama, burned. Within no more than 45 minutes the Alas family lost their house and all of its contents. They owned the house and it was insured.

The Alas family has three children, all school age. They are now living in a friend’s basement. The day after the fire was Saturday, New Years Eve. William lead his church’s New Years Eve dinner and worship service as previously planned. He preached in La Roca de Salvacion’s worship service on Sunday. He remarked, he was only able to do so because someone lent him a tie.
