Juanita Victoria Butler Benson, 95, of Camden, Arkansas, died April 28, 2022. Born into a Cumberland Presbyterian family, Juanita graduated from Fairview Public School in 1944. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from Bethel College (now Bethel University) in McKenzie, Tennessee, and later a master’s from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She retired from teaching in 1990.
Juanita was a member of Camden Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Arkansas Presbytery) for most of her life. She loved her church family and served on many committees and boards, making life-long friends all across the state and the Cumberland Presbyterian denomination. She also eagerly worked in the kitchen at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church camp in Morrilton, Arkansas, known as Camp Peniel for many summers.
One of Juanita’s brothers was the Reverend George Butler who served in West Tennessee Presbytery for many years. George died in 2013.
