Our United Outreach Sunday is a celebration of the denomination’s unified budget that supports many ministries that we do together to make a different in our world. Our United Outreach or OUO has been around since the 50s and in its current form since 1985, yet many people do not know what it is and why their church does or does not support it. To educate church attenders, think about surrounding the pews or chairs in your sanctuary with tables (1-2 for each Ministry team, board and institution). Then fill the tables with information about the ministries of each group. This may be pamphlets, pictures, mission trip stories or even invite denominational staff to talk about all the different ministries. The Office of the General Assembly compiles “Talking Points” for presbytery meetings in the spring and fall and could be given out at this celebration. If your church gives to OUO, you can celebrate that and let people know what percentage you give. If not, this might be a good time to encourage the session to place it in your church’s budget. http://www.cumberland.org/ouo/Our_United_Outreach_Committee/Welcome.html
