Guidance for Coronavirus Outbreak
From the Office of the General Assembly
Dear Friends,
As people read the news about the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) they have many concerns, questions, anxiety and fear. While the news reports key in on hospitalizations and deaths, much less is reported about the number of people who have recovered.
How should we as Cumberland Presbyterians (CPs) respond? “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7).
The spring presbytery season is upon us. CPs may be gathering for fellowship and conducting the business of the church. Response Guidelines is a good resource for ministers and churches to consider. We encourage you to think about those your ministries care for, especially the elderly and those at a higher risk for contracting the virus.
In all of this, the faith community can respond pro-actively while remaining calm, taking measured and considered responses with understanding and compassion.
Lenten Blessings,
Shelia O’Mara, Moderator
Mike Sharpe, Stated Clerk
