The Stated Meeting of Presbytery del Cristo met in Odessa, Texas at St. Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church August 11 – 12, 2022.
Moderator Rev. Justin Richter called the meeting to order Thursday evening. After the Roll Call and the excusing of absences, the visiting guests, Rev. T. J. Malinoski representing the Missions Ministry Team of the denomination and Rev. Cliff Hudson representing OUO, were introduced the Presbytery.
After receiving the Presbytery Council report, including nominations, was presented, Presbytery moved into a time of Worship and Communion. Rev. Shelia O’Mara presented the message, “Who isn’t my neighbor” based on Deuteronomy 30 and Luke 10. Her conclusion was that “it ain’t that hard” to be a neighbor.
Presbytery was declared in to recess until the next morning; when Moderator Rev. Richter called the meeting back into order the following morning as he gave the morning devotional based on Colossians 3. The four priorities of the church have to be person, posture, process and position. “We all fall short, and God still loves me. Take on the love of Christ and let your positions grow.”
Rev. Hudson was offered the opportunity to address Presbytery. He talked about OUO and its importance.
Elder Randy McGwire shared what St Andrew is currently involved with and presented some history of the “Permian Basin”.
During the Missions Committee Report, Rev. Malinoski did a presentation on Worshipping Communities.
Committee on the Preparation for the Ministry introduced two to candidates for the ministry both from Chinese CPC in San Francisco. The Presbytery accepted Alan Leung and William Leung as candidates for the ministry.
The Care of Minister’s Committee offered prayer for our ministers and gave names of ministers who were requesting to be moved to the retired roll of the CPC.
The budget for 2023 was reviewed and received along with the apportionments for each church in the Presbytery.
The Presbytery received the report for the Ordination of Michelle Bell and thanked the Commission for the work.
Reports from the delegates to Synod and the Commissioners for GA were received.
The next meeting of Presbytery del Cristo will be held March 9 – 10, 2023 with Agape CPC of El Paso serving as hosts.
