Galatians 3:23-29 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
Now before faith came, we were imprisoned and guarded under the law until faith would be revealed. Therefore the law was our disciplinarian until Christ came, so that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer subject to a disciplinarian, for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to the promise.
Reflect
In the environment of the Government today, it, unfortunately, has become obvious that there are clear dividing lines in our nation. And I am not here to speak on policies or political agendas. I am here to speak on Christ and what He offers willingly to us.
Our scripture reading today reminds us that Faith in Christ makes us ALL children of God. Paul reminds us that when we accept Christ those dividing lines disappear. We are ALL new creations.
It matters not our background, our ancestry or the color of our skin. It doesn’t matter if you enjoy Sushi or a BBQ sandwich. Paul says in vs. 29 “and if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to the promise.”
I don’t know about you but being a new creation and an heir really excites me! Like many people, my past is, well, shall we say colorful. For a long time, I chose the wrong path. Praise God that when I stopped running and listened, He washed all that away and made me clean. Those dividing lines of not being good enough were gone. My shackles were removed, I was no longer imprisoned. Today, I have the opportunity to share Jesus with others. Today, I can share my faith in an Almighty God with ALL, no matter where they come from or what they like to eat.
Join me today, in setting others free, and joining together as one in the name of Christ Jesus.
Blessings on your journey!
Pray
Dear God, today as we come before you, we ask to help us see others as you see them. Lord, in a world where it seems we find more and more to divide us, help us to realize that we are one in Christ Jesus. In Jesus holy name, Amen.
