Psalm 150 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty firmament![a]
Praise him for his mighty deeds;
praise him according to his surpassing greatness!
Praise him with trumpet sound;
praise him with lute and harp!
Praise him with tambourine and dance;
praise him with strings and pipe!
Praise him with clanging cymbals;
praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
Reflect
Praise the Lord! Did you hear that? Let me say it again. Praise The Lord!
In our scripture, we are told to praise the Lord using trumpet, lute, harp, tambourine, dance, strings, pipe, clanging cymbals, and clashing cymbals. Other than dance, all the rest of these items make noise, and I am not talking quiet noise. A clanging or clashing cymbal gets your attention. Have you ever heard a trumpet blare?
Jesus said that we shouldn’t hide our light under a bushel. When I read this, I see that we shouldn’t hide our praise. We shouldn’t have our hands buried in our pockets, and barely muttering the words as we praise the Lord. We shouldn’t be scared if someone sees us. We should be brave enough to stand out.
Psalm 98 says we should burst into jubilant song. In Luke 12, Jesus says that if we confess Him before men, He will acknowledge us before God. In other words, our praise should be loud and visible.
There is no better way to end this than to say: PRAISE THE LORD!!!
Pray
Dear Lord,
We thank You that You love us so much that You gave your son. We thank You that He loves us enough that He died on the cross for us. Lord, please give us courage to praise you out loud. Help us to stop worrying about others, and spend more time in communion with You. If someone tries to discourage us, Lord, help us to stand firm in You.
We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen
Go with God!
