Easter is near, can you feel it? Lent has been long and challenging. I connect with the psalmist’s request that God be gracious. What would we do if God were not gracious. The psalmist describes the difficulties, strain and struggle of the moment. It is ugly. It is terrorizing. It is exhausting. Stress will kill you. The psalmist is full of grief and stress. It is taking a huge toll on body, mind and soul. No wonder the writer cries out for God to be gracious. And then, with all that, the psalmist articulates faith in God’s goodness. Trust in God to provide all that is needed. Lent can feel like the shadowlands as we wrestle with the darkness of our broken condition, and journey to the cross. And yet, God holds us during these days – supporting us and walking with us through the distress, grief and pain that is some of this journey of life and faith. We can join with the psalmist and say, “But I trust in you, O Lord.” Easter will be here soon, and we will celebrate the glory of the resurrection! We’ll celebrate God’s graciousness anew!!
Pray
Precious God,
We sometimes feel our burdens are too much to bear. We cry to you for help. Thank you for carrying us through the difficult times. Thank you for your grace that shows up in unexpected and beautiful ways, much like spring flowers popping up out of the earth, blessing us beyond what we could imagine. Thank you that your grace is sufficient, whether we realize it, or accept it. We trust you to help us through day by day, as we seek to do your Will and be your people. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Go with God.
