Yesterday we looked at how God wishes to save us from sin. In this passage, we see how salvation comes not through the blood of goats or bulls but through Christ. Thes offerings of goats and bulls were what people made to make themselves clean, but it never really did the job. And no priest or offering could bring salvation until Christ who offered Himself as a living sacrifice on the cross. He was the only one to be able to remedy the separation between God and humanity. There are many who want to say that Jesus was only a good teacher or that we should only enact the good works of Christianity without thinking of the need for a Savior we all have. The writer of Hebrews will not allow for that. We are saved by Christ by His one perfect sacrifice which was not just a public mockery of Roman rule or a sad tragedy. Jesus knew He was going to the cross for a higher purpose to save us so we can bring forth His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. Jesus through His sacrifice makes us whole and able to reconnect to the Father through the Holy Spirit. Jesus was not just a man but a Godman, the perfect lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. We can only be saved through Him not our piddly sacrifices nor our works but only the blood of the Lamb can make us whole again. Amen
Pray
Dear Lord may we not trust in our works or deeds or even our offerings, but wholly trust in You and be loyal to You O Christ, our Lord.
Go with God.
