Reflect
When we read this passage, we are reminded that God is always willing to forgive us. First, we must recognize that we have sinned and repent of our sins. What does it mean to repent? It means that we regret our wrongdoing. Regretting the wrong that we have done is a step toward eradicating sin from our lives. Sometimes, we may sin again and again. Yet we always regret our actions afterward. We can still go to God in prayer and seek forgiveness. We can never use up God’s mercy and forgiveness. God does not write us off. God desires our well-being and happiness. How can someone be happy who sins purposely? We cannot be happy in sin. Sometimes people think God is punishing them when in reality, their sins have cause and effect on their lives. For example, if I tell a lie that hurts someone, that sin can come back to hurt me in several ways. People will question my integrity, I may lose friends, or people may dismiss me when I have an important truth to convey. All these things I set into motion by my sin. God gives us boundaries that we are not to go beyond. These are for our benefit, given by a Creator who loves us very much.
Pray
Dear God, Thank you for the boundaries you have set for my life. Thank you for the forgiveness you give when I go beyond those boundaries. Amen
Go with God.
