Let us Sing! What a great way to start out our day today, singing praises to the Lord. This Psalm reminds us of who the Lord is, He is the great King, the one and true God. The Psalmist goes on to tell us that He made the earth, the heights of the mountains, and the depth of the sea. But this Psalm also comes with a warning. The warning is not to harden our hearts as the ancestors did at Meribah. This is referring to the Exodus story found in chapter 17. The Israelites having been led to the promised land, now grumble, and complain because they are thirsty. They tell Moses, have you brought us out here just so we can die of thirst?
Can you imagine, after having witnessed the ten plagues, after watching the sea part, and now because of thirst they begin whining!?
Honestly, we do it ALL the time…
How many miracles have you witnessed since waking this morning? Did you wake up? I assume you did as you are reading this now. How about the breath in your lungs, the sun, or the clouds outside your window? I know this morning the first place I went to was the coffee pot. I have electricity with which I can heat my water. Heat in my house and a warm blanket that I slept under last night. We forget all the amazing little things that happen each and every day, all the blessings God has given us to continue to work and live and share His Kingdom.
Hear the Psalmist today. “For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand. Today if you hear my voice…” Hear His voice, heed His call, sing and praise the great and glorious God and do not harden your hearts.
Pray
Lord, give me a melody to sing in Your presence. Amen.
Go with God.
