This writing from Paul is inspired by two different stories. One is the wilderness temptations of the Israelites and Jesus’ temptations in the wilderness. The Israelites failed at every instance of testing. Jesus was faithful when he was tempted in the wilderness. Paul tells us that we have the Holy Spirit within us and we can overcome temptations and pass the test.

The way we overcome is through developing our spiritual lives and keeping focused on Jesus. We have faith that no matter the situation we are in, God will protect us and strengthen us at all turns as we submit to him. Keep our eyes upon Jesus.
