“Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; this man was righteous and devout, looking forward to the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit rested on him.” (Luke 2:25). To be righteous means a person is morally right or justifiable. Righteousness means more to God. God counts belief and or faith as counts righteousness for Abram. Simeon was righteous and had a deep religious commitment to God. The Holy Spirit was with and guided him.
Jesus was rightly identified by Simeon as “a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to… Israel.” (v. 32). Simeon fulfilled his purpose of not seeing death before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. Also, a prophet, Anna the daughter of Phanuel fulfilled her purpose by praising God and speaking about the child (Jesus) to all who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.
Let us find out our purpose in the body of Christ and fulfill it.
Pray
Lord, you have a purpose for every one of your creations. Help me Lord to identify and walk in your purpose for me with the help of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
