Focus
Close your eyes and open yourself as you relax into a peaceful state. Be willing to expose yourself for who you are as God created you to be. Breathe deeply as you prepare to hear God’s Word.

18 This is what I have seen to be good: it is fitting to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of the life God gives us, for this is our lot.
Reflect
Ah retirement! That time we all dream of. When we can wake up when we want to. Do the things that we only like to do. No schedule, no time zone, no nothing. Yes siree, that’s what I have been waiting for my whole life.
But wait! Ecclesiastes is saying that the toil, my job, the thing I have been called to do day in and day out, this is enjoyment!?
The thing I’ve realized as I have grown older is 1) we are not guaranteed retirement, 2) people who love what they do and what they have been called to do, will do it as long as they possibly can.
Now, does this mean it’s all going to be easy? Nope certainly not. Neither is retirement. So, today, take a breath of fresh air, recognizing that no matter what the day looks like, doing what God has called you to brings you joy.
Pray
God of joy. Today as I wake, help me be joyful. Help me to recognize that doing what You have called me to do, no matter how hard, results in my enjoyment. Let me be joyous today. In Jesus name, Amen.
Go with God!
