10 For thus says the Lord: Only when Babylon’s seventy years are completed will I visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. 11 For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. 12 Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. 13 When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart, 14 I will let you find me, says the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.
Reflect
Well, friends, if you are reading this, you have made it through one more year! Covid complications are still around, but so are we! These past couple of years have been challenging in many ways. But in many ways, it has helped us to prioritize and focus on good things. This passage from Jeremiah was speaking to the Israelites in exile. Everything was bad. They didn’t see much hope. They turned to God for comfort and answers.
God did not give them answers about the past, but God did give them answers about the future. The future was secure and it was good.
I hope as this year ends, you too are assured of the secure and good plans God has for you and the church. Spend time searching for God and dreaming with God. May God bless you in the upcoming year!
Pray
Lord, thank you for the gift of life and this past year. Help us to live body by faith in this upcoming year. Bless us, so that we can be a blessing! Amen
