The Birth of Jesus
2 In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This was the first registration and was taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 All went to their own towns to be registered. 4 Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. 5 He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was engaged and who was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

Merry Christmas!
Recently I came across my copy of the family memoir book my Aunt Minnie Bell wrote many years ago. In it I found the passage she wrote about Christmas:
Many times at Christmas our stockings were filled to the brim with toys and goodies, but not so the year the last baby came. That was a hard year so there was no extra money for presents. It hurt my mother more than anyone. I remember how she worried because she was afraid that her teenage boys would be embarrassed about the baby. How happy she was when she learned that they were not embarrassed but simply delighted! So much so that they brought in their friends to see the present that we all shared – a baby doll! A real, live baby doll! That was love. Our mother taught us that way.
It’s Christmas Day! The day of Joy and the day of True Love. I love this time of year and I love the true story of Christmas. Tell the story! Tell it again! Make sure that we not only share the message but we embrace the message too. Jesus is Love and Jesus is here for us today!
Merry Christmas!
Pray
Almighty God, we thank you so much for sending your Son to come in the form of a baby to forgive our sins. Bless us in a special way as we celebrate this new life amongst us this day and every day. Through the one born in Bethlehem we pray. Amen!
