David reflects on God’s miraculous way of turning the tables. It is David’s seemingly darkest hour. Saul and his massive royal posse wait outside the cave David and his men hide secretly within. Suddenly, David finds his pursuer made vulnerable to him in a most comical way. Saul was caught in the very trap he intended for David. All the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t help Saul as he opposed God’s plan. Let God be exalted.

            We all have our times when someone or something seems to bear relentlessly upon us. We may feel trapped or see ourselves facing an insurmountable barrier. It may be a personal strife issue with someone, a corporation utilizing its power on the meek, or a government unabated in its injustice.  It does not matter. What does matter is what God has planned. What we must do is keep our hearts steadfast on God as our redeemer. What we must not do is believe we fight the battle alone.

            The time of the turning tables will come, and the greatest of all just as readily falls as does the lowly when they are in opposition to God and his righteousness. If you find your soul bowed down and all around seems hopeless, remember your day of singing comes, and it will not be a song of revenge or vengeance, but a song of awoken peace that will kiss the new day with rejoicing. God will be exalted and not us, and in that will be seen a marvelous thing; God’s glory will shine on all.
