Be still and rest in the Lord.

18 You shall put these words of mine in your heart and soul, and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and fix them as an emblem on your forehead. 19 Teach them to your children, talking about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise. 20 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, 21 so that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land that the Lord swore to your ancestors to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth.
Reflect
After receiving the news that at the age of 36 I was diabetic, had high blood pressure, and high cholesterol I decided it was time to make some lifestyle changes with regard to my diet. I was referred to a nutritionist to talk about how to plan for meals and other things regarding overall health. One of the things she told me was “GIGO.” She said, “Garbage in, Garbage out but it also means, Good in, Good out. You have the choice of what to put in your body. If you continue to put garbage in your body, you can expect to continue to be unhealthy. If you start to put good things in your body, you can expect to be healthier.” That makes sense to me. I had a sneaking suspicion that Big Macs and pizza were not helping my health.
The same can be said for what we put in our minds. Our Scripture today acts as our “nutritionist.” We must fill our minds with the goodness of God and as we do so, we can expect our days will be, “multiplied in the land that the Lord swore to your ancestors to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth.”
Pray
Almighty God, burnish our minds with beauty that we may see the world as You intended it to be, a holy creation with evidences of Your glory in every corner and color. Amen
Go with God!
