We have here a familiar story from the Bible. Sarai was desperate to produce an heir. Abram was desperate for a male heir. So, they concoct their own scheme to get one. Instead of waiting on the promise of God. Remember, God had promised an heir.

Sounds a little like us, does it not? God has promised many things in God’s word. Yet, we tend to get out ahead of God and make our own plans.

Sarai’s plan was for Hagar to have a child. Sarai and Abram tried to make God’s plan come true. They were disobedient. Yet again, sounds like us. May God also show us that God is true to God’s word. Like Abram and Sarai who got a child of their own. May we receive God’s blessings even when we are disobedient.
