Reflect
Have you ever been blessed by God in an unexpected way? A way so amazing and profound that you just couldn’t believe it? This is what happened to the Shunammite woman. She wasn’t seeking God’s favor or blessing. She was taking care of the holy man in a way she could provide. Because of her providential care, she was blessed in a way she couldn’t imagine.
What struck me about our scripture reading today, is that when in need, when her son died, she did not tell her husband. She did not even tell Gehazi what had happened. Instead, she went straight to the one who could do something about the issue, the servant of God.
We as God’s creation are blessed. We also have those blessings taken from us. We try to reason through things our self or work them out on our own accord. Instead, we should be running to the one who can help us in our time of need.
If you are in a place of blessing, praise the Lord! If you are in a place of need, praise the Lord! Go to the one who can help you in all things.
Pray
Gracious God, you give to us when we do not ask, and you receive back to you when we are not ready. Help us as we walk through this day to praise you in all circumstances. To remember to go to you directly in our time of need, not just as a last resort. In Jesus name, Amen.
Go with God!
