Psalm 147: 1-11
Reflect
The words of a contemporary praise song, “I Will Sing of Your Love Forever,” reflects the two hymns of praise in verses 1-11 of our Psalm. In the chorus of this praise song, five times it says “I could sing of Your love forever.” When I sing those lines I think about the “power” of God’s love. The power of God’s love restores hope to God’s people according to the Psalmist when they are returning from exile. The power of God’s Spirit and love is what delivers them from their enemies.
God delivers his people not through military power but through the power of love. not only then but now as well.
So, how can I keep from singing his praise, how can I ever say enough, how can I keep from shouting His name, how amazing is God’s love and power. And by the way, where ever you are at the moment, stop and sing Happy Birthday to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, let us celebrate our heritage together.
Pray
God, You chose to defeat sin and death through the power of Your love. Help us to trust in the power of Your love, when we seek deliverance from our enemies. Thank You for showing us a more excellent way, in the mighty and powerful name of our Lord we pray. Amen
