Focus
Stop and thank God for being present with you today. Ask for God’s guidance as you hear God’s voice through scripture and the writer.
Read
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being 4 in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.
Reflect
It’s been a rough 2020. Pandemics, protests, elections, and the like have taken their toll on many. We may think the world is a little darker after this year, and it may be for some. For some, this year may have brought about the thought that evil will win and darkness will cover the earth. NOT SO! Jesus Christ came to the world and He is the light of all people! The light shines because Christ lives. There is no darkness dark enough to extinguish the light of Christ. We too carry the light in us. As simple as the song might be, I remind myself of Christ’s light with the old hymn you probably learned as a child…”This Little Light of Mine.” I will not let Satan blow it out, no, I’m gonna let my little light shine! You too can keep your light shining, no matter how dark it seems, we carry the light of Christ. Carry on!
