46 And Mary said,
“My soul magnifies the Lord,
47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48 for he has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant.
Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed;
49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.
50 His mercy is for those who fear him
from generation to generation.
51 He has shown strength with his arm;
he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts.
52 He has brought down the powerful from their thrones,
and lifted up the lowly;
53 he has filled the hungry with good things,
and sent the rich away empty.
54 He has helped his servant Israel,
in remembrance of his mercy,
55 according to the promise he made to our ancestors,
to Abraham and to his descendants forever.”
56 And Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home.
Reflect
Today’s scripture is known as the Magnificat (the “Song Of Mary”) and begins as follows:
46And Mary said: My soul glorifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for He has been mindful of the humble state of His servant.
Do you ever think or feel as Mary does in this verse? If not, you should!
I notice the faces of the people I come into contact within the public setting and it appears there might be a lack of rejoicing spirits being shared with others. I have tried to analyze why, and I wonder at times if it is a lack of heavenly mindfulness on our part. I asked in a sermon once if God had ever truly left anyone. I don’t think so, and I don’t think He ever will!
So, rejoice, smile, be glad, be mindful of the Lord in everything you do and say, and share His Light with others. Christmas is almost here – a baby is about to be born!
Pray
We thank You, Lord, for blessing us, not just at certain times but all the time! We thank You for this season of Advent as we prepare for the birth of Your Son, Jesus the Christ. We wait with enthusiasm the daily opportunities to spread the Good News that Jesus is born. Thank You so much, for it is in His name that we pray, Amen!
Go with God!
