Turn off your cell phone, TV, or radio. Listen to the silence that is around you. Listen for God to speak to you.

5 For to which of the angels did God ever say,
“You are my Son;
today I have begotten you”?
Or again,
“I will be his Father,
and he will be my Son”?
6 And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says,
“Let all God’s angels worship him.”
7 Of the angels he says,
“He makes his angels winds,
and his servants flames of fire.”
8 But of the Son he says,
“Your throne, O God, is forever and ever,
and the righteous scepter is the scepter of your kingdom.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has anointed you
with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.”
10 And,
“In the beginning, Lord, you founded the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands;
11 they will perish, but you remain;
they will all wear out like clothing;
12 like a cloak you will roll them up,
and like clothing they will be changed.
But you are the same,
and your years will never end.”
13 But to which of the angels has he ever said,
“Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet”?
14 Are not all angels spirits in the divine service, sent to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?
Reflect
What should be the most important thing in our life? Should it be money, or maybe position? Maybe it should be family, or possibly friends. Maybe power and prestige should be the most important things in our life. Maybe it should be health or happiness. Maybe it should be a pleasure or just a simple contentment that we have everything everyone else does. Maybe it should be our children, or the success of our children. Maybe these things should be what we focus on since they do play such an important part in the story of our life. Maybe……. But then there is another voice, a voice given to us by God. A voice that is above the angels, a voice that sits at the right hand of God. A voice that loves righteousness and justice; a voice that hates wickedness. A voice that remains the same, and whose years will never end. A voice that is called the Son of God. A voice that says listen, take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. A voice that says the most important thing in our life should not be the things mentioned above, but should be our desire and faith to work on our relationship with God.
Pray
God, help us to see that it is our relationship with you that allows us to find a path through this life. A path that involves family, spouses, children, work, finances, and all the other things of life. But God, help us to understand that we can only take care of all of this by first taking care of our relationship with you. Amen.
Go with God!
