I remember growing up as a cross country runner, my high school coach would always say do not look back. I would run as fast as I could just to try and finish the race, with a personal best time. However, going against my coach’s advice and looking back would cost me time. Which in return would lessen my chances of getting a personal best time. If I would have just given it my best and kept looking forward my time would have been better. Also, my chances of setting a personal best would increase.

Today’s scripture text informs us, about forgetting the past and focusing on the future. If you focus on the person you use to be, then you cannot see the person God has blessed you to become. Now yes, our past has formed us to become the person we are today. However do not allow your past to hold you back, from living your greatest life now.

If God can forget our past once we repent, how come we as the sinner cannot do you the same? You see God wants us to live in greatness, not in regret. And the best way to live in greatness is by forgetting the past.
