8 I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me; 9 but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your comrades the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God!”
10 And he said to me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near. 11 Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy.”
12 “See, I am coming soon; my reward is with me, to repay according to everyone’s work. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”
14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they will have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates. 15 Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and fornicators and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
16 “It is I, Jesus, who sent my angel to you with this testimony for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”
17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.”
And let everyone who hears say, “Come.”
And let everyone who is thirsty come.
Let anyone who wishes take the water of life as a gift.
18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book; 19 if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away that person’s share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
20 The one who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.”
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all the saints. Amen.
Reflect
If I was to ask you why do you go to work, what would your response be? I am pretty sure you would say so that you can pay your bills. So we go to work for a period of time. Just to receive the payment for our work a week or two later. We work with the hopes of our place of employment staying open so we can pay our bills.
In today’s biblical reading we read about the Lord returning with our reward. Revelation 22:12 says, “See, I am coming soon; my reward is with me, to repay according to everyone’s work.” You see ladies and gentlemen all of the things that we do for the Lord, we will be rewarded for. All we have to do is keep on doing what the Lord has for us to do, to receive our reward from the Lord.
How do you know what the Lord has for you to do? We must take the time to pray to the Lord and ask him what his will is for our lives. We must read his holy word and study his holy word. And not only this but we must listen and obey his command. The greatest reward we can ever receive comes from the Lord himself.
Pray
Dear God thank you for your word today. We pray that you grant us the strength and ability to do the work you have for us to do. So that we may receive the reward that you have awaiting for us your servants. We ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ and say Amen.
Go with God!
