In today’s text Psalm 117 is a short but powerful text and chapter. We are told to praise the Lord because his love is steadfast and his faithfulness endures forever. That is the summary of the entire text. Even though it may be short in letters it is powerful in meaning.

The word steadfast means unwavering which can be broken down to mean unchangeable. This means that the love that God has for us will not change over time. No matter what changes we go through in life, or how many times we sin against God his love for us will not change. God loves us his children unconditionally. God loves us not for what we have but rather because of who we are.

The chapter ends by stating that his faithfulness endures forever. so not only does God love us, he is faithful towards us. When things are going good God is right beside us, and on the contrary, when things are bad God is right next to us. God’s faithfulness does not come with a time limit or conditions with it. This means that every trial and test we face God will be right there with us. And every joy and celebration let us not forget that God will be there to celebrate with us.

So as I close today please remember that you are loved by God. And that God’s faithfulness towards us last forever not just during the good times.
