Focus
Stop and thank God for being present with you today. Ask for God’s guidance as you hear God’s voice through scripture and the writer.
Read
1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
come into his presence with singing.
3 Know that the Lord is God.
It is he that made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him, bless his name.
5 For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.
Reflect
When you woke up this morning were you thankful? Many times we get caught up with all of the troubles of this world, that we forget to give thanks. However, if we were to take a few moments a day we can find a reason to be thankful. Just being able to wake up and give God praise for another day is a reason to be thankful.
In today’s text, we focus on being thankful. The very first verse of the 100th Psalm starts out with making a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. This verse alone lets us know who we are giving thanks to. The following verses go on to tell us why we are to give thanks unto the Lord. The major thing to notice is that the text tells us that, the Lord made us, we are his people and the sheep of his pasture. Knowing these things should make us be thankful because that means we are not alone in this thing called life. The other reason is that we must know if the Lord made us he will protect us, guide us, and bless us throughout our lives. So as we close today I leave you with this question. Aren’t you thankful that you do not have to face this thing called life alone?
Pray
Dear God thank you for your holy word tonight. Help us to take time out of our day just to say thank you. Thank you for the good day’ and the bad day’. And finally father God allow us to realize that our good day’ outweigh our bad day’. In the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit we pray and say Amen.
Go with God!
