Focus
Slow your breathing and become aware of the taking in and letting out of your breath. Focus on putting things aside so you will be open to what God is saying to you today.

Philippians 4:1-9
1 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, my beloved.
2 I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord. 3 Yes, and I ask you also, my loyal companion, help these women, for they have struggled beside me in the work of the gospel, together with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in the book of life.
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. 6 Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.
Reflect
True, honorable, justice- words that get thrown around during election cycles as titles that come with political power. The honorable Senator so and so. Justice so and so. Promises of what is true. But politics twist what is just, what is honorable and what is true. It changes what is considered worthy of praise. It twist what is worthwhile, what should be followed and what should be praised.
Just as Paul taught the people in Philippi, we are taught what these words are supposed to mean to us as followers of Christ. We are called to look for these things, to share these things. We are called to look for what is truly worthwhile and what is truly praiseworthy. The people we seek out, the people we put our trust in says as much about us as it does about the other people. It tells the world where our priorities are.
We know what we are called to do and be. Others may not share our world view but they learn about what is true and honorable and just by what we say and do. It isn’t enough to talk the talk. Walking the walk is even more important. Keep doing those things- the world is watching.
Pray
You have taught us your ways, God. Help us to remember those ways to share them with the rest of the world.
Go with God!
