2 Corinthians 5:17-21
17 So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us. 20 So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

New Creation
My friend Tina loves animals. She fosters, rescues, and rehomes animals so they can have a better life. This year she has turned her porch into a butterfly habitat. When I hear the words “New Creation” the image of butterflies pops into my head. It is not easy to go from an egg to a full-grown butterfly. There are bugs trying to eat the eggs, birds trying to eat the caterpillars, and then they have to survive emerging from their chrysalis. A butterfly struggles to break free from the cocoon. Then they have to rapidly beat their wings to dry them. This process helps to strengthen the butterfly and enable it to fly. I would be tempted to help the butterfly along with the escape process but without it, the butterfly would never fly. Throughout our Christian walk, we also have struggles. Through the ups and downs, we often wonder why God doesn’t help us out. Maybe that is our chrysalis and without the struggle, we wouldn’t emerge a “New Creation” and take flight.
Pray
Lord, Hear our prayer. Help us to be reconciled with God through Christ. Guide us and direct us to become what we are created to be. Amen.
Go with God!
