Prepare yourself to discern what is and what is not of God today. Still yourself so you can hear how God is calling you.

Psalm 119:65-72
65 You have dealt well with your servant,
O Lord, according to your word.
66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge,
for I believe in your commandments.
67 Before I was humbled I went astray,
but now I keep your word.
68 You are good and do good;
teach me your statutes.
69 The arrogant smear me with lies,
but with my whole heart I keep your precepts.
70 Their hearts are fat and gross,
but I delight in your law.
71 It is good for me that I was humbled,
so that I might learn your statutes.
72 The law of your mouth is better to me
than thousands of gold and silver pieces.
Reflect
Sometimes the answer to the question, “If everyone else jumped off the cliff, would you?” is just an honest “yes”. It is not till we hit the bottom and feel the pain that something in the way of regret begins to find its way into our hearts. The regret is often mingled with the thoughts of what was before the leap, and what has been lost since hitting the ground. The affliction we have brought upon ourselves and those around us begin to become apparent. This is when the Spirit moves, and the light of conviction begins to arise in the depths of the darkness. It is within the blessing of conviction that the Spirit moves and gives us a desire to find a better way; a way that avoids the cliff. It is God’s hope that within that conviction we will find that the better way is the truth of God’s commands, the truth of God’s word. It is the psalmist that states that he now knows what to say when asked to jump off the cliff with everyone else, “No, I think I will just stay here with God.” Even if pressured strongly, the psalmist has learned to keep his answer the same.
Pray
God, continue in your grace and love to convict us. Continue in your grace and love to allow your Spirit to come upon us and show us that there is always a better way than what the world offers us. Thank you for your grace and love that allows us to return to you. Thank you for your grace and love that allows us to live within your word, within your commands. We are humbled, we are thankful, and we will praise you. Amen.
