Revelation 3:1-6
3 “And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: These are the words of him who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars:
“I know your works; you have a name of being alive, but you are dead. 2 Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is on the point of death, for I have not found your works perfect in the sight of my God. 3 Remember then what you received and heard; obey it, and repent. If you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you. 4 Yet you have still a few persons in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes; they will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy. 5 If you conquer, you will be clothed like them in white robes, and I will not blot your name out of the book of life; I will confess your name before my Father and before his angels. 6 Let anyone who has an ear listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches.
Reflect
2 Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. 3 Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent.
We all need an alarm. We need one to wake up in the morning. We need one to beep and remind us to take medication, and so on. That is what a wakeup call is: it is an alarm. We also need a wakeup call when we are stuck and not moving. If that is you, I want to give you a wakeup call. I want to alarm you. I want to tell you that sometimes you have to wake up, you have to make yourself get out of bed – out of your rut. Sometimes you need someone to tell you to wake up. You even need to surround yourself with people that are willing to be your “wake up call.” Do you have some unfinished business with life? With God? with a friend? A job? Wake up, stand up, straighten up and go finish the unfinished business in your life! Because your unfinished business is God’s unfinished business. Whatever you have been given to do, told to do, led to do, hold fast to it! Ask God to forgive any reluctance, lethargy, or even fear that is holding you back from completing your unfinished business!
Pray
Hey God, wake me up. Wake up the person reading this that is asleep – stuck in bed. And help them know You are with them. In Christ, Amen.
Go with God!
