It literally hurts my knuckles to knock on a door, so I always look for the doorbell first. You know, I don’t want to hurt myself if the person isn’t home and the door won’t be answered anyway! And what if the person behind the door doesn’t really want company? How many of us have turned out all the lights, closed the shades and locked the doors to make others think we weren’t home so we could avoid unexpected guests.
The thing about God, though, is that he is always there ready to answer. He longs for our company every day. He can’t get enough of us! What if we had change in mindset, and the only thing we asked for or sought after was the presence of God? When we knock looking to just enter his throne room to spend time with him, he will gladly open the door. He is probably even waiting on the front porch with the door wide open!
Pray
Lord, in your presence alone is peace. Help me seek your presence every day. Your presence IS the good gift!
