1 John 4:1-6

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. And this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming; and now it is already in the world. Little children, you are from God, and have conquered them; for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore what they say is from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us, and whoever is not from God does not listen to us. From this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

Reflect

Upon first reading this passage, one must think, anti-christ? What are we talking about here? This is a warning. God gives us wisdom to discern what is of Him and what is not. Whenever we try to do something, personal, for the Church, or for business God must be in the process.

In 2016, my wife and I purchased a church to convert into our residence and her business. People asked what in the world we were doing? It took a considerable amount of prayer but, things went smoothly. We found if things went smoothly with a decision, then we knew it was of God. If things did not pan out, we knew it was not meant to be. So far, my wife’s business has grown and the conversion of the building is going well. This goes with other situations we face day to day. Be in prayer, study, and count your blessings. You will find you have things to be thankful for and more reasons to be praising God.

Dear Heavenly Father, We thank you for the wisdom you have given us to discern what is of you and what is not. While we may not have the patience to wait to hear your voice, we trust that you will answer our prayers in your time, in your Son’s name, Amen.
