Focus
Prepare yourself to discern what is and what is not of God today. Still yourself so you can hear how God is calling you.
Read
1 Thessalonians 4:9-12
Now concerning love of the brothers and sisters, you do not need to have anyone write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love one another; and indeed you do love all the brothers and sisters throughout Macedonia. But we urge you, beloved, to do so more and more, to aspire to live quietly, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we directed you, so that you may behave properly toward outsiders and be dependent on no one.
Reflect
As we grow up, we are taught how to interact with one another, what is socially acceptable, and what is not. As a school bus driver, I have the honor of guiding our youth in this process. We find it easy to be cordial to people we know but, when it comes to people we do not know very well, if they have hurt us, wronged us, this is entirely another matter. Society today wants to get whatever they want right now or do things that would expedite that process. Just look at the way people drive! Every day, I see someone make a “mistake” in driving but, we are human. Hopefully, that mistake does not mean people are hurt and/or property is damaged.
In the passage today, we can see some things never change. Will we ever learn? We need to study more and do the best we can. If we know God’s word, do our best work, and we do it for God not man (Colossians 3:23) then we will get to a place where we will not be without need. So, whether that is not driving erratically or doing the best you can in whatever field of work you do, do it your best. Sometimes, a life example is the best sermon.
Pray
Dear Heavenly Father, We make mistakes. However, we know if we focus on you, giving our life to you, our part, you will provide all of our needs and keep us safe when we goof up, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
Go with God!
