Psalm 116: 1-2
Psalm 116
I love the Lord, for he heard my voice;
he heard my cry for mercy.
Because he turned his ear to me,
I will call on him as long as I live.
Reflect
Have you ever prayed to God while lying in bed and wonder if God is listening? If we are honest, I think we all have. On occasion when talking with a friend or colleague I have wondered if they are listening or are they more focused on what they want to say to me. Once again, if I am being honest, I must admit sometimes I don’t listen very well and am more excited about what it is that I want to share with them than listening to what they have to say.
I don’t know about you but I am so grateful that God is always ready to listen and recognizes my voice when I cry out.
There is no doubt that the psalmist is grateful that God has heard his prayer. In fact, the psalmist says “because of God’s attentiveness, he is going to call upon him as long as he lives.” What greater comfort can any of us have than to know that when we pray God is always listening. Let us join with the psalmist and give thanks to the Lord for listening to us when we pray.
Pray
Lord, hear our prayers, incline thy ear to us, and we will forever give You praise, for we pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen
