O Lord, our Sovereign,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
2 Out of the mouths of babes and infants
you have founded a bulwark because of your foes,
to silence the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars that you have established;
4 what are human beings that you are mindful of them,
mortals that you care for them?
5 Yet you have made them a little lower than God,
and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You have given them dominion over the works of your hands;
you have put all things under their feet,
7 all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.
9 O Lord, our Sovereign,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Reflect
How do you measure your worth? Is it based on your degrees? Maybe your accomplishments? Possibly your income? Could it be based on your position or authority? These are the questions that David had in mind when he asked God, “what are humans beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?”
The answer to how we measure our worth is found in David’s question. The first way to measure our worth is that God is mindful of us. What a thought God who created all, sees, and pays attention to our seemingly inadequate lives. The second way to find our worth is that God cares for us. God has our best interest at heart. And our response should be to live our lives in a way that brings glory to His majestic name.

O Lord, our Sovereign,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
The thought that you know us and wants what is best for us is overwhelming. May we see today as opportunity to bring glory to your name. We pray in Jesus name. Amen
