Focus
Slow your breathing and become aware of the taking in and letting out of your breath. Focus on putting things aside so you will be open to what God is saying to you today.
Read
John 14:27-29 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid. You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I am coming to you.’ If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you this before it occurs, so that when it does occur, you may believe.
Reflect
In my flesh, I am not at peace with not knowing or being able to explain things. Public and formal education, nor experience serve as assurance. What assures me is the promise of the peace of God, in the midst of anything and everything. No, I cannot fully explain ‘it’…I do not even waste time and energy trying to intellectualize ‘it’, as I did in my younger, more unwise periods of living. I feel peace, I am surrounded by it as a divine ‘hedge of protection’, I am saturated with it because God is a Spirit and is omnipresent, and I KNOW I have it!
I often include in sermons and counseling, that God ’makes good on His Word…for His Word is He.’ Therefore, I passionately and emphatically assure both the saved and unsaved, churched and unchurched, that we ca fully rely upon God to fulfill His promise of peace, and so many other things, as intricate pieces of His holy and righteous character and integrity.
If I can get into my truck, turn that key, and expect it to not only start, but get me to and from destinations, that big chunk of metal made by human, flawed, frail, sinful hands, then surely I can place my hope in God who has never failed, is not a man that He would lie, and has never operated under false pretense.
During this hell-spawned/satanic attack named coronavirus, and during the inconsistent and unreliable leadership in both high and low places, we must know without doubt and debate, that peace and clear revelation comes from the one and only, sovereign GOD.
Pray
Father in heaven, God of all, thank you for peace. I pray that all who do not have peace will receive this devotional as their daily study tool to overcome their flesh, overcome the influence of those who also do not have peace, and become active members of your human family, in the marvelous name of Jesus the Christ, Savior and Lord, amen.
Go with God!
